The David Landon IIW Future Leaders Programme is aimed at developing the next generation of International Institute of Welding (IIW) leaders and at increasing the diversity of viewpoints in the IIW Board of Directors, reflective of the entire IIW membership and especially the next generation of welding industry professionals.

The Programme offers opportunities for early career members of the IIW community to interact with the welding and join industry leaders to contribute to IIW at the highest level of governance.

Every year two IIW future leaders chosen for this program would serve a one-year term (non-voting) guests of the IIW Board of Directors, from the end of the IIW Annual Assembly until the end of the Annual Assembly to follow. During this year of service, the individuals will be invited to attend each IIW Board of Directors meeting, attend the Annual Assembly, participate in committee discussions to set policy, gain valuable leadership experience, and connect with welding and joining industry influencers.

IIW financially supports this Programme by taking care of the travelling costs to attend the IIW Winter meetings and Annual Assembly.

The Programme is named after David Landon, IIW President 2020-2021. He initiated the programme and promoted the leadership of young professionals, engineers, and scientists in the welding field, both in IIW and in various organisations globally.
